Welcome to the Commonwealth of Virginia's
Comprehensive Virtual Center on Alzheimer's
Disease. Other parts of this web site explain
the Center's mission, goals, substantive work
plans, and resources. In this space, I want to
encourage you to collaborate in the Center's
work by sharing my perspective on how the Center
should function.
The Center's energy must be devoted to
translating good ideas into bold action and
tangible results. Identify challenges;
encourage innovations; catalyze strategies;
harness resources; overcome obstacles;
demonstrate achievements; disseminate
information; guarantee access; change lives.
Already, more than four million American's have
Alzheimer's disease and -- barring discovery of
prevention or cure -- perhaps as many as sixteen
million will be in its grasp by mid-century.
Individuals, families, communities, businesses,
governments have no time to lose, no time to
lose in finding ways to better care for those
who have Alzheimer's, finding better ways to
reduce the incidence of Alzheimer's and,
ultimately, a better path to eradicating
Alzheimer's.
The Center is built on a foundation of people
strong in heart, clear in vision, unambiguous in
resolve.
So, if you are a
cross-functional thinker, inventor, industry or
academia partner, entrepreneur or out-of-the-box
leader,
we want to hear from you!
I
welcome you and encourage you to help gird the
Center's walls with your passion, your
intellect, your energy. It is never the wrong
time to do the right thing.
